Habitat for Humanity Home Dedication Ceremony

Last spring we had the pleasure of helping build and sponsor a home with Habitat for Humanity.

Recently we had the honor of attending the Home Dedication Ceremony.  Its very cool being a part of someone’s life story and helping them get into their very own home.

Safety Hero for month of October 2018 - Gedion Kiflu

Congrats to Gedion Kiflu.  He is Yellow Checker Star Transportations Safety Hero of the month.  Gedion was able to avoid a pedestrian who was jaywalking outside of a crosswalk. 

We stress awareness and training here at YCS and Gedion is a great example of what it means to be a professional driver.  Thanks Gedion.

Safety Hero of The Month for September - Filipe Matelo

Much thanks to Filipe Matelo for his safe driving habits. 

Due to his awareness on the road he was able to narrowly avoid hitting a pedestrian who had illegally ran across the street in front of his cab.  He is the definition of a professional driver. 

Its taxi drivers like Filipe who set YCS apart from other transportation providers.  We emphasize safety in all our training classes and he was able to implement that.

Driver of the Month for Sept 2018 - Jon Kosier

Congrats to Jon Kosier.  He is our Driver of the Month for September 2018.  Jon is a long time employee who is very loyal. 

He is a true professional who spends a lot of his day serving the local riding public by taking numerous dispatch calls each day. 

He is always willing to help out when needed and picks up extra shifts.

YCS Donates Ballistic Shields to LVMPD K9 Unit

YCS had the privilege of donating 5 ballistic shields to the K9 unit at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Its been a long time coming, but we wanted to say thank you to the brave men and women who’s courage and bravery saved thousands of lives on 1-October and who serve this community so valiantly every day.

We had an amazing day last Friday for our first Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas & ReStore home build. YCS had 20 employees, from management, mechanics to drivers. It was truly a team effort. We are pleased to announce our partnership with St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder City as our March WeLOVELasVegas Community Outreach Partner.

They are intentionally loving on children who may be homeless, abandoned or in the foster care system.

These kids are our future and We are proud to team up with a organization giving them so much hope.

Because of your generosity, we were able to collect $6,264.  Amazing! 

It only costs Veterans Village $20 a night to house a Veteran in need, providing them with food, shelter, mental and heath services, job training, community and love. 

$6,264 equates to 313 nights of free shelter for those who heroically served our country.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our coat drive supporting The Las Vegas Rescue Mission! 

Due to your amazing generosity, we were able to gather 204 coats.  These coats will directly impact over 200 human beings who are fighting the cold on a nightly basis here in Las Vegas. 

This is what our #WeLOVELasVegas community outreach initiative is all about.  We want to meet needs in practical ways by leveraging what we have for the good of this amazing city!

January's Community Outreach Partner

Our Community Outreach partner for January 2018 is the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

We will be collecting new and gently used jackets and coats through the month of January.

Help us bring a little warmth to those on the streets.  You can drop off your coats at our office during normal business hours.
